Limestone Philippines has a mining area of almost 1,800 hectares of limestone deposit in Guimaras Island, Philippines. The Mining Area has been approved by the Philippine government for mining through a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) on March 3, 1993. The mining area is conservatively estimated to contain at least 500 years of limestone deposit (2 million tons per year mining rate).
Mineral Deposits to be Developed
The mining area was primarily staked for the productions of limestone that will be the major raw materials for cement manufacturing and hydrated lime. On the other hand, shake or siliceous materials may also be mined as additional component to the proposed cement manufacturing plant. This would depend on the qualitative analysis of this materials as an additional for cement manufacturing.
The high grade limestone which is abundant in the area is the major raw material for lime manufacturing. The existings lime plants capacity is 120,000 metric tone per year.
Estimated life of lime
The principal source of limestone materials comes from the Jordan Formation, which is widespread within the mining area. According to the “Final Report on the Exploration for Cement Raw Material within the Contract Area under MPSA No. 041-V-93,” the period of depletion of the minerals in the deposit is placed at more than 1,000 years, at an annual mining rate of 2 million tons per year. This report was prepared by geologist Leon Hugo Raval.
